Hi friends and sponsors

Xin chào

For those of our friends who have not heard from us for a few months, let me assure you we have been working hard.

We have been updating the web site, adding a page for our volunteers. After hosting two nuns from Huong Phuong Convent and Orphanage for 3 months, we added a Vietnamese migrant to our household. Hoan arrived from Saigon to study IT in Canberra. He has now been with us for 3 months. He has been very good, assisting with translations of documents. Welcome, Hoan.

Around the same time, our friends Sonja and Tiffany set up and held a fundraising evening in Sydney. There was a magnificent Lebanese dinner, a variety of entertainment, a raffle and a charity auction. They worked very hard to make it a success, raising around $6,000 for the orphanage fund. Congratulations Sonj & Tiff!

For our tertiary sponsored students, the September semester in Vietnam is starting. Each scholarship sponsor has been asked to continue to support their student by contributing $250. The Paypal secure payment method for donating seems to have stalled in paperwork so was dropped, for the time being.

David Braithwaite SJ resigned from the Board due to his many other commitments. The Board thanks David and wishes him well in his continuing work with gap year youth programs in Vietnam.

Our financial records went through their annual audit and the Board’s annual general meeting discussed the fund allocations. We will be able to report the results to you after Christmas.

See you soon
